Intel Invests $38 Million in Robotics, VR Startups

The gathering of Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) execs at its annual Global Summit got started with a bang for 12 lucky up-and-coming tech firms. Intel said it invested over $38 million across a host of industries, including “big data analytics, autonomous machines and AR/VR [augmented reality/virtual reality].” Given that the tech giant is coming off a record quarter in which revenue jumped 9% year-over-year to $15.8 billion, and with $9 billion in cash and equivalents on hand, $38 million spread among 12 startups may not do much to whet investors’ appetites. …read more
